Staying true to form

The weekend's back pages yielded an article about the bush administration's Department of Home Land Security (what ever that means) refusing to obey a law requiring reporting passed by congress last year because "department lawyers decided the law would impinge on presidential powers"

We were at one time a country of laws. I hope that whatever administration replaces this absurdity will bring us back to those times.

10 Years

Ten years ago today as the organ worked through the Goldberg Variations the wedding of Ellen Ford and I began, followed by a beautiful reception, a prolonged party and ten absolutely wonderful years. Shortly after I met Ellen; Bette Rosenstein told John that I was "smitten"... I still am. I am one lucky fellow.

On a dress up note: Ellen planned to dress up as Sarah Palinney but we can't afford the costume.

150 K well spent

The news yesterday that the Republican Party spent $150,000.00 on apparel and makeover for Sarah Palin and family was to my mind money well spent. This investment has helped bring Sarah to center stage. I for one am most grateful to all who contributed (even if they thought they were giving money to help war hero man get elected) as maybe without this attention I would not have realized that I am not "pro-america". I live in Massachusetts. I never knew that as a liberal I hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God. If I had known this I would likely not be the sound sleeper that I am as I would most certainly be up all night keeping "real americans" from my door.

So maybe I should consider moving, but what if I moved and I was still a liberal?

Winning the hearts and minds

KANDAHAR AIR BASE, Oct.22 -- Nine Afghan soldiers were killed and four others injured by a U.S. airstrike on an Afghan army checkpoint Wednesday in an apparent friendly fire incident in eastern Afghanistan, according to Afghan and U.S. military officials.

Washington Post story this morning. The continuing murder of those on our side in Afghaniston will leave us alone on our side.

I've returned

On 20 June 2007 I last posted on this blog, not that anyone noticed.

Today...no longer burdened by the pointless enthusiasm of youth...I have committed to once again bring my musings to this space.

Nietzsche reminds us (figuratively of course): “ we have art so that we not destroyed by the truth”

I promise not “art” but my version of the truth.
